Dear PIUT Friends,
Warm Christmas greetings
to you all! As 2009 draws to a close, I am writing to tell you about
some exciting developments within Partners in Urban Transformation.
It seems like only yesterday that we celebrated Bob Linthicum’s retirement with a festive dinner at Westminster Gardens. Since that time, many have been hard at work discerning together the best path forward for PIUT as an organization. Just today, the Board voted unanimously that: “Moving forward, PIUT wishes to make Millennium Tools its sole focus by dedicating 100% of its organizational time, staff and resources to the work of Millennium Tools.” I was offered and have accepted the invitation to serve as President of the PIUT corporation in tandem with my role as Director of Millennium Tools. This is an extraordinary opportunity to continue the legacy to which PIUT has been committed for so many years. Such a moment would not be possible without the dedication of Bob Linthicum and all the “partners” who have so faithfully served on the Board of Directors and in other important leadership roles.
Millennium Tools is now
being presented with its own “vessel” in which to be nurtured and brought
to maturity.
The gift PIUT is choosing to offer is both timely and expeditious. Upon
hearing the news, one Ugandan colleague called it “divine intervention.”
Among the world’s poorest, there is no time to lose.
On behalf of the entire Millennium Tools team, I would be grateful for both your prayers and generous gifts as we launch into this new year. Donations may be sent in to the new business address listed below. For any of you who might feel drawn to participate in our emerging work in other ways I would welcome the opportunity to talk further. Meanwhile, look for Bob Linthicum to have his own website up and running shortly, joining the league of so many other prominent writers who are now using cyberspace to reach a wider audience. Bob’s treasured lectionary studies will continue -- for now, keep visiting the PIUT website until new set-up is complete.
Bob’s published material
will soon become available through Urban Expression NA, an innovative
ministry headed by long-time Board member, Rev. Jeff Wright. Every
effort is being made to ensure seamless access to these resources. The
PIUT website will continue to provide updated information.
In closing, I would like to convey my deepest appreciation for the faithful service of Sue Wier who has tirelessly managed PIUT operations for so many years. We will miss her! I wish Sue and all of you every blessing on the journey ahead. Peace,
